Paul + Meghan // Plantation Gardens Kauai Hawaii destination wedding

What’s better than shipping all of your favorite people to a warm tropical island and marrying your best friend?  Not much.  Paul and Meghan did just that and pulled it off beautifully at Plantation Gardens with the help of the fabulous Mona coordinating there.  These two are some of the sweetest people and you may recognize her from her sister, Rebecca’s wedding here.  We’ve really become smitten with this entire family and it was a pleasure to see everyone again.  Meghan and Paul have the kindest eyes and I don’t think they stopped grinning all day.

We met up for drinks last week and I was telling them how they truly were a dream couple to work with.  They didn’t have extensive shot lists, numerous requests or issues, rather they completely trusted me throughout their day and it paid off 100%.  They let me pull them away during the reception for 15 minutes just before sunset and we created a few dreamy photos in some of the most gorgeous light I’ve ever experienced.  The pinks and purples danced around the air like a cotton candy machine and all was right in the world.  It really is so rewarding when the bride and groom express that they couldn’t have imagined anything going more perfectly and this was exactly how their day unfolded.  For destination weddings it’s important to me to arrive two days ahead of time so that the day before the wedding can be designated to location scouting and for P+M I knew I wanted to find the perfect spot for their “first look”.  After about an hour cruising around Poipu I took a right down a residential street and saw a grove of beautiful trees on someone’s private property.  After weighing my options I chose to drive up and ask the owner for permission to photograph there.  She was so gracious and even mowed the area that we wanted to use proving that sometimes, if you just ask nicely, you’ll get what you want.  A huge thanks to Maureen for allowing us to use her beautiful property.  It was also and honor to have Heather of One Love Photo as a second photographer and a few of her images are in here.   This is a day I’d very much like to repeat again and again.  From the island of Kauai in Hawaii I give you Paul and Meghan’s wedding…
